Choma was a low-income member of the Dalit group who hails from a small town in Karnataka. He had always been attracted by the verdant green fields and the diligent farmers who managed them ever since he was a young boy. He had aspirations of starting his own farm, where he would cultivate vegetables and watch them develop.
Choma endured a great deal of prejudice from those in higher castes who thought that farming was beneath him and forbade him from owning land. Thus he cleaned several streets and drainage systems while working as a labourer for BBMP. He receives extremely meagre salary from them, not enough to support his family. He was never able to accumulate sufficient savings to launch his own farm. Choma was unable to continue his idea due to the high cost of land and a lack of funding.
