The contest was sponsored by ISAAA Inc. Contestants were tasked with creating a four-panel strip focusing on the impact of Pinoy Biotek (Filipino biotech) from the perspective of Filipino artists. Artists competed in professional and amateur categories with thirty artists competing in all with first, second, and third prizes awarded in each category. The artists’ takes on biotech were surprisingly sophisticated in a number of instances.
