Is it deja vu all over again? Last spring, U.S. Representatives Matt Gaetz, Marjorie Taylor Green, and Lauren Boebert (none of whom ever served in the military) made some pretty startling claims. To paraphrase, they claim the U.S. military is woke, socialist, and into critical race theory. They claim leftist “politicization” is driving away potential recruits who want nothing to do with transgender pronoun training or the like.
The Secretary of Defense and senior military leadership strongly disputed that point of view on factual grounds, but here we go again. On December 30, Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley posted similar claims on X (formerly Twitter):
