As protests continue to rise over police policies and racial injustices, it becomes apparent that America is entering another civil rights movement. Many people have taken to the pedestal to lead the charge in social reformation. One such spokesperson is Rev. Al Sharpton, who gave a eulogy at George Floyd’s funeral, encouraging a unified demand for change by the “blacks, whites, Latinos, and Arabs in the shadows of Lincoln”.
But as an Anishinabe(Ojibwe) Native, I couldn’t help but once again feel left out in the push for racial equality.
