This article is part of our Ultimate Queensland Street Art Road Trip — From Brisbane to Cairns series, but it is written to be useful whether you’re going to visit the Townsville street art only, or you’re going to check it out as part of a full-on East Coast road trip.
Just one and a half hours from Home Hill and three hours to Mission Beach, Townsville should definitely be flagged as a stop if you’re road-tripping this way. Honestly, Townsville should be on your street art hunting hotlist no matter where you live in the country. The street art here comes from some of the nations hottest street artists, as well as some serious international heavyweights.
As we mentioned briefly in the Queensland Street Art Road Trip article, Townsville gets our attention for a few key reasons:
- They’ve attracted some of the best street artists in the country and the globe
- The styles here are diverse and seem to authentically match the artists
- Townsville City Council is really pro-street-art and actively promotes the artworks. Go Townsville!
Townsville Street Art Map
While the Townsville City Council does a great job of sharing their street art locations, we always prefer to have an interactive map that moves as we do (I’m a millennial — paper maps are not natural to me). For this, we’ve created a Google map of all the spots, exactly the same as the one you can get from the council, just downloadable so you can follow the blue dot to see where you are in contrast to your next location.
