We start with an ice-breaker exercise where everyone is given a card with a prompt. We are then sent out in the crowd to find 5 people to ask our prompt to and they are supposed to reciprocate by asking us their own prompt. Prompts are along the lines of: share your greatest achievement, what were your new year’s resolutions, what is the most important thing your partner should know about you,…
A pageant ceremony then follows. We swear: not to take pics and/or videos, to conform to our genders and to respect silence whenever asked. We hold hands and recite something vaguely resembling a relationship prayer. NB: Trust me, considering the number of times I prayed to God to bring me my ideal partner, if it was just about saying a few words out loud, I’d already be married. But it still helps in breaking the awkwardness and tension amongst ourselves.
