The fact (revealed when the IFT put up its March 29 Pleno meeting materials) that the Universidad de Guadalajara also put in an application for Mexico City’s XHCPFT-TDT 33, one that was rejected on account of federal preference when the IFT awarded the concession to the Instituto Politécnico Nacional, is not the biggest surprise in the world. The UdeG did this last year with XHCPDO-FM 94.5 (but the IMER showed up), so they knew their bid was a longshot. What’s new is that someone in the national media — Javier Tejado Dondé — bothered to write about it.
