Mychildhood revolved around video games. My earliest memories start with the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). Playing practiced my reading skill as it developed my sense of hand coordination. I enjoyed every minute.

Years into video gaming, Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) was my jam. I experienced summers dedicated to Japanese role-playing games (JRPGs), specifically, masterpieces from SquareSoft, which authored Final Fantasy III and Chrono Trigger.
Where it began was Secret of Mana. This piece celebrates the original SNES console game, describes what JRPG role-playing games are, provides historical context, shares personal nostalgia and memorable bits playing Secret of Mana.
