Another week in U.K. politics and yet another week of increasingly dangerous transphobia from the government — no surprises there. But this time they might have let the mask slip just a little too much.
It’s political party-conference season in the U.K. and Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, probably the most powerful man in the country, a man who, along with his wife Akshata Murty, is estimated to be worth around £730 million (about $890 million), used the opportunity to announce that he’s being bullied by trans women.
In his first conference speech since becoming Prime Minister (without a general election being held, just like many fascists before him) Sunak took the opportunity to make his most severe public attack on trans people, and especially trans women, yet, stating:
