Fossil footprints are invaluable relics of the past, providing information about an individual’s locomotion, biology and behaviour. Hominin footprints are relatively rare across both time and space. Some examples are known, such as the oldest hominin footprints ever discovered in Laetoli, Tanzania, dating back 3,66 million years! South Africa also contains some footprints around 150,000 years old and the Arabian Peninsula conserved some prints 120–110,000 years old. Another example includes prints taht were preserved in North America’s Lake Otero, dating back 26–23,000 years.
