During their recent direct, Nintendo dropped a bombshell with the unannounced release of Metroid Prime Remastered for the Nintendo Switch. Retro Studios produced a beautifully remastered version of the beloved 2002 classic, which was originally released for the Nintendo GameCube. The Remastered version features enhanced controls, graphical upgrades, and a smooth 60 fps experience. With Metroid Prime Remastered being received as a resounding success people have started to as whether Metroid Prime 2 and 3 will be released on Nintendo Switch.
While there obviously hasn’t been anything official from Nintendo Switch, the two sequel games in the original trilogy have been heavily rumored for some time. The Metroid Prime remaster itself was the headline of several review stories dating back to late 2021. Insider Emily Rogers stated that Metroid Prime Remastered had finished development over the summer of that year in a Tweet that has since been deleted.
