Just a Smidge Suspicious of Psychiatry & Big Pharma???s Love Affair

Having a wife with anxiety, I have done some research on psychotropics as well as the big picture as it relates to the whole psychiatry movement from its early beginnings.

I must confess, it’s slightly unsettling. It’s all very subjective, and hit and miss, in particular, as it relates to the prescribing of medications.

I first took notice of this several years ago while taking people with ID/DD to psychiatric appointments. Many people with intellectual and developmental disabilities are diagnosed with accompanying mental health disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar, attachment disorders, impulse control disorder and lots of anxiety disorders.

I would observe the Doctor liberally increasing dosages and prescribing additional medications, until these folks had an impossible cocktail of psychotropics. Often I would be their only resource of information to make these decisions. These appointments would last a mere 10 minutes often.

To spite these cocktails of meds, far too often I would witness these people going into tailspin’s and winding up strapped down in the ER.
