Embedding inclusivity into the Manifesto
The Agile Manifesto has revolutionised the way teams approach software development. But, it’s crucial to acknowledge that diversity and inclusion were not at the forefront of discussions when the Manifesto was drafted. Can we add an element to the Manifesto to highlight the need for inclusivity in Agile? To represent diverse perspectives and experiences?
Making the focus explicit
The Manifesto is the first thing people reference when talking about Agile. It feels like a missed opportunity if we don’t make diversity and inclusion a vital part of that discourse. In an inclusive environment, harnessing the power of diverse minds is easy. To this end, I propose an amendment to the Manifesto. Here’s a fifth part of the Manifesto that could be effective:
