I heard this gem a few weeks ago and it’s been seared into my brain since. Here we go..
It’s categorically untrue cos people who can’t hike aren’t being treated any differently than typically-abled people who don’t hike. So if typically-abled people are being treated the same as people with disabilities, that’s not ableist.
People with varying disabilities do hike- many disabilities do not preclude someone from hiking. And some disabilities are invisible. So don’t double down on insulting them while making this sweeping (and no doubt, self-defensive) generalization by adding erasure.
