The Heart Sutra, known alternatively as the Heart of Transcendental Wisdom, is one of the most profound and widely-studied scriptures of Mah??y??na Buddhism. At its core is the teaching of ????nyat??, a Sanskrit word which roughly translates to ‘emptiness’ in English.
No one thing exists in isolation, the Heart Sutra famously states, but is instead part of an interdependent, ever-changing web of being. When we understand that form is both dependently originated and constantly changing, it follows that everything has existence and emptiness at the same time.
