I was a proud owner of an investment property (my first). The building was a triplex on Rodman St. in the Queen Village section of Philadelphia. The Village was an up-and-coming neighborhood inhabited by young professionals and students headed in a similar direction.
Rents were high and trending up but I had to collect every one of them in my three unit property to pay the mortgage and the utilities that were my responsibility: gas, water & sewer and common electric. The electric for each apartment was paid by the tenants.
