Transient reactions to the latest entry in a series I’ve loved perennially
I’ve been an avid fan of Nintendo’s eccentric Pikmin series since I was in the 7th grade. My first proper introduction to the series was through Chuggaconroy’s walkthroughs on Youtube. I first learned about the series through Super Smash Bros. Brawl, where I got to see Olimar and his Pikmin featured as fighters. My first impression was that Pikmin was weird and gross. I didn’t like the Pikmin’s dead, doll-like eyes. Olimar repulsed me.
However, after watching Chuggaconroy’s reviews religiously, I came to appreciate Pikmin for its pastoral landscapes, quirky enemy designs, modernist soundtrack, and Olimar’s profound insights as expressed in his pedantic Piklopedia notes.
