Welcome to my devlog! I am an enterprise software engineer and in my spare time I develop small games and a SDK for game programming in C++, written on top of SFML library. And recently I figured that I am ready to fullfil one of my oldest gamedev dreams.
You need to know that I am not keen on competitive videogames. I play a bit here and there, but the bulk of my competitive gaming is an hour of Doom II at the end of each sprint at work. I also love watching Halo esports, pro-player gameplay breakdowns and analysis of their strategies.
For as long as I am a programmer, I wanted to make an FPS. I did some Doom modding and mapping (like bringing Halo CE weapons into Doom or porting of Shootmania Royal). But dabbling with an existing, functional engine was not satisfying enough. So here I am, starting a new project. An arena multiplayer shooter, inspired by Doom, Quake, Unreal Tournament and unexpectedly — Halo.
