It’s that time of the year: Carnival! The official start date is the 11th of November, falling on a Friday this year.
So, what is Carnival? In short, it’s the day when the concept of “normal” goes out the window.
In my youth, my introduction to Carnival was through Brazilian dancing shows on TV. So, my initial Carnival experience here in the Netherlands felt like diving into the ocean, learning to swim or sink.
Over the years, I’ve learned to appreciate the music and creativity embraced during Carnival, especially the parades.
