Earlier this month, Hong Kong superstar Chow Yun-Fat expressed some dismay at how censorship from the CCP government affected the creativity of Hong Kong films. Some of the best Chinese stories I’ve seen were made by the Hong Kong movie industry. Let’s not forget that Bruce Lee also made some of his most iconic movies in Hong Kong when Hollywood was too racist to see his talents (even though individual actors saw them). Hong Kong filming making styles have also influenced Hollywood movies, especially action movies. If it were not for the imported way of making action movies, Hollywood action movies would still be lame. I cringed watching it then in the 1980s.
