My journey into urban gardening began with a simple desire: to taste a berry that wasn’t wrapped in plastic or tainted by miles of travel. I yearned for the fresh, sun-kissed burst of flavor that only comes from something grown and plucked by your own hands.
Living in the city, space was limited, but my ambitions were not.
The first step was selecting the right berry plants for my environment. I opted for raspberries and blackberries for their hardy nature and because they thrive vertically, a perfect match for the small footprint of my balcony.
I remember the excitement as I brought home those first plants, their leaves fluttering in the breeze, as if they were as eager to begin as I was.
