For me, learning to feel energy was a lot like learning to taste whiskey. When I first tried scotch, I was at a distillery in Scotland and not yet old enough to do so legally in the US. I coughed and sputtered, mostly glad that the experience was over, and swore that people who claimed to be able to taste vanilla or oak were delusional.
Over the years, despite my negative first experience, I found myself drawn to whiskey. The people who enjoyed it seemed like the kind of person I wanted to be. Confident, intellectual, and somehow cooler than other kinds of drinkers. I was drawn to the surrounding culture more than to the liquid itself.
