Ms. Wiltz clearly said that we must be referred to as Black people (with a capital B, mind you), not “blacks”. Every Twitter racist that you can think of (frens, groypers, thuleans, etc) swarmed her tweet in packs as they usually do, and called her every slur that their fragile egos could muster. This attempt at taking over a person’s tweet as a means to silence them is called “ratioing”; Twitter users would do this act if someone tweets something out of disrespect, or if their intent is to stalk and harass. For the aforementioned racists, it was the latter that drove them to attack an innocent Black woman because she shared a sentiment that we’ve been screaming for years: Do not EVER IN YOUR LIFE refer to us as “blacks”, “the blacks”, “you people”, or any derogatory slur used to dehumanize or demean us. Sadly, racists are disobedient and don’t listen to sage advice.
