Specifically, let’s talk about the religious indoctrination of children. It’s a topic that’s at the top of my mind because well… one of my readers just accused me of indoctrinating my own children.
It all started when I wrote a simple, whimsical open letter to my son, entitled “20 Life-Changing Lessons Every Teen Needs.” Lesson 1 in my list of values reads thus: “There is no such thing as a good person and a bad person. Instead, there are only good people who sometimes make bad choices.”
But, one of my regular readers, a self-proclaimed atheist, took exception to the idea that I would dare teach my kids that people are inherently good. Here is the comment that they left:
