How to keep energetic and optimistic when so many things can go wrong for Product Manager? Those include:
1) Too many stakeholders wanting too much too fast
2) The new release being a disaster
3) Getting sick/needing to take some time off
4) Your team getting sick or needing to take time off
5) Your Product stopping working
6) An important metric going down
7) Key players leaving your team
8) Important aspects of a release missing
9) Your product getting hacked
10) Finally, you getting sick of it all
and probably many other things will go wrong.
And you know what?
This is part of being a Product Manager. The setbacks will happen no matter how much time you invest in prep time. No matter the research, the refinements. the daily checkups.
You are human. Your team is made of humans. Thus the software and processes are as imperfect as their creators. It’s just how things are.
