It is important to note that holidays can be both magical and difficult, the former for some and the latter for others. Therefore, this brings up the expression “Happy holidays” and why I still use it knowing this.
I love to share well-wishes during this time of the year, and I do this by wishing people “Happy holidays” because I do not want to assume they celebrate the same holidays as me. Strangers may not celebrate holidays at all, but I have witnessed the light in people’s eyes when I say it. To me, I am saying so much more than “Happy holidays;” I am saying that I have seen you and I wish you all the best during this time.
