As you walk alongside the river towards the ferry terminal at Cais do Sodré, one of Lisbon’s main ferry terminals and a main transportation hub with trains, trams, buses, subway and ferries, anticipation builds. You can see old and new ferries crossing the river to / from the south bank of the Tagus River and the view is magnificent.
Today’s voyage will be in one of the old ferries, painted white and orange, known as “cacilheiros”, a name derived from today’s destination, the small town of Cacilhas, which can be seen at a distance.
