It’s a racing simulator
Grid Legends, the fifth installment of the Grid franchise, was initially released in 2022 on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PS4, and PS5. I happened to get my hands on a copy of Grid for May’s PlayStation Plus Essential monthly free game selection.
With the Forza racing game series limited to Xbox owners, I’ve been missing out on a purely simple racing simulator game, complete with accurate physics, gear changes, real-life car models, and a racing line to follow. Luckily for me, Grid Legends scratches that itch more than other racing games I’ve played on the PS5, specifically, the Need for Speed series.
Gameplay
Grid follows the story of you, an unnamed protagonist, only referred to as “Driver 22,” as they rise in the ranks globally for the Seneca racing team. In the story mode, you’re placed on a variety of over 130 different race tracks all around the world with different vehicles and objectives associated with each race.
