???Love is Blind???: A Symptom of Post-Covid Isolation and Human Connection?

In light of the recent release of Season 6 of Netflix’s “Love is Blind”, I decided to rewatch the viral experimental dating show that captivated audiences since first airing in 2020.

What I found — other than premature “I love you’s” and a healthy dose of vanity — was a growing uptick in participants having a perceived sense of dating scarcity coupled with a feverish desire to connect on a “deeper level.”

While some participants were justified in feeling this way by being outright undatable, others treated the experiment as a last resort for some form of connection. Whether they connected with a potential partner, their “podmates,” or with audiences at home, an honest desire to form meaningful bonds was made clear.
