#GlobalJustice: Learning and activism through social media

Dr Madeleine Le Bourdon (POLIS) gathered insights from secondary school students to further understand social media’s impact on student lives and if it can be applied as a tool for informal learning. Herself and Louise Pears (POLIS) will be adding to this with their ongoing research with University students (Funded by BISA).

In an era of ‘Fake News’ and polarised mainstream media, is social media educating young people or exacerbating misconceptions on global injustices? At the height of COVID-19 lockdowns around the world, we saw a rise of online local social justice campaigns that connected to a global community.
