Getting everything organised to move here was a lot more complicated than I ever could have imagined. For those who don’t know, I am here as an au pair. After trawling through tens, maybe even hundreds of families I finally found the perfect match for me. That was just the beginning of the process: visa applications, various bits and pieces that needed to be validated, translating important documents, posting certificates and visiting the French consulate multiple times were just a few of the steps involved.
The one great thing about all of this is that it gave me the opportunity to genuinely make the most of my remaining time in Sydney.
