In April 2021, I made the decision to join Duolingo and kick-started my journey to learn French. My fascination with the language began during my childhood, when I stumbled upon a children’s book that my mom must have brought home. This book was filled with pictures, mostly of simple and familiar objects that kids could easily understand. These objects’ names were written next to them in both English and French. So, I would often grab the book and attempt to pronounce the French words for the objects that caught my attention, even though I wasn’t confident in my pronunciation. Among all these attempts, one word stuck with me - crayon, which means pencil in English.
