The Space Needle’s collapse was announced in a special news report on April 1, 1989, by the comedy program “Almost Live” in Seattle. The art department of the program provided some Photoshop shots of the observation tower’s collapse.
Numerous calls were placed to the switchboard of the station and the 911 dispatchers as a result.
Thank goodness it was not true because the Space Needle is dear to my heart as I lived and still live in the Seattle area. The Space Needle is a one-of-a-kind tourist as well as a resident attraction.
