We’ve all been there. It’s a common thing that antibiotics can get rid of the nasty productive cough, the annoying runny nose, the scratchy throat, and the fever that just will not go away. You get a prescription and pick them up at your nearest pharmacy. For a few days, you take these pills and in a week or so, you recover. Then you, and 23.4 million other Canadians, rinse and repeat this process every year. But what do antibiotics do and how do they work? Is it a foolproof process?
