In their year-end summary, Gail Collins and Bret Stephens provide a depressing assessment of 2023, and the fear that 2024 will be even worse[i]. Indeed, they’re mired in complete dread about the prospects of 2024.
If the decision by the Texas Supreme Court not to allow an Abortion for a woman who needed it desperately to preserve her Health doesn’t top the list of the awful things that happened in 2023, then it certainly is close. In Stephens’s words:
