The court had previously ruled that the policy violated students’ constitutional rights and federal anti-discrimination law by banning Trans students from using facilities aligning with their self-professed gender identity.
The rejected appeal stemmed from a 2023 ruling by the Chicago-based 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, which found that the school district’s policy infringed upon a student’s rights protected under Title IX and the Constitution’s 14th Amendment.
The student, identified as “A.C.,” was at the center of the case, facing discrimination when the school banned them from using facilities corresponding to their gender identity.
