My son is completely nonspeaking; this means that he’s never said a word and can’t express himself through words. My wife and I have tried everything from play dates to Karate and even private horse lessons in order to give him a somewhat “normal” childhood, but it’s very tough on him to ‘fit’ into these activities and for others around him as well.
He is also enrolled in a therapy program on campus, as well as therapies my wife helps him with at home. We do many of these things to help him progress in skills that come naturally to other children.
