The Taj Mahal was built by the fifth Mughal emperor of India, Shah Jahan in memory of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal who died in 1631 while giving birth to their 14th child when she was accompanying him in a war campaign. It took more than 20 years and 20,000 workers to build the Taj Mahal.
