Many people feel that retirement ends one’s life’s work. While work and retirement seem interrelated, retirement shifts one’s perspective from a work-life balance to a life-work balance. It is being able to put life first instead of the obligations associated with being an employee or an employer.
A friend told me the other day that he had worked all his life and had recently retired. I congratulated him and then asked him what he meant. He responded that he didn’t have to go to work anymore. I knew what he was talking about, but his answer was incomplete.
