The geocentric positions of planets along the zodiac are noted — i.e. as viewed from the earth’s center. The Indian system uses the Sidereal Zodiac which accounts for the precession of equinoxes, while Western astrology utilizes the Tropical Zodiac. The ascendant sign is the zodiac sign rising over the eastern horizon at the time of birth. This and other house cusps are calculated per Indian guidelines.
