After our Borneo adventure ended we had just one last country to visit — Thailand.
I started my first round the world trip in 2007 in Bangkok, so there’s a nice symmetry to finishing there! But first, it was a convoluted flight to the island of Koh Samui.
First we flew out of Sandakan to Kota Kinabalu, then the next day from Kota Kinabalu to Bangkok — and finally connecting from Bangkok to Samui. The last flight was through a rainstorm with a lot of freefalling…the things we do for the beach!
The Gili Islands left such an impression on us that we fancied another blissful week by the sea, with lots of swimming. And Koh Samui didn’t disappoint.
