A Mistake I Made as a Leader

I read an exercise in a book about how to create culture that I wanted to try.

I called a team meeting and asked all my employees and managers to write down what they valued in one word on a piece of paper. I then put all the values together on the wall and said we’re going to function based on these values.

Seemed like a good idea at first but it wasn’t.

I was the boss and it was my duty to uphold the standards to those values and since they didn’t match my own or the company I wanted to build I realized I had to scratch that.
