I feel that I am a nuanced thinker. I wasn’t always that way. I was kind of set in my ways. I wasn’t always open to seeing other people’s perspectives.
I thought that if I ‘saw things from someone else’s perspective’ then that meant I could possibly fall for their ‘wrong thinking’ and lose my own opinions and beliefs.
Then I realized that as long as my own beliefs were strong and on a solid foundation in God, then I could feel confident that listening to someone else’s perspective wouldn’t make me change my beliefs.
Now that journey through my brain process might seem weird to some. Maybe you can relate to it. But, that journey helped me to become a more nuanced thinker.
Thinking in a more nuanced way has helped me to acknowledge diverse opinions — not so I could change my beliefs — but so that I could cultivate more positive and productive interactions with others.
